• "I find that somehow, by shifting the focus of attention, I become the very thing I look at, and experience the kind of consciousness it has; I become the inner witness of the thing. I call this capacity of entering other focal points of consciousness, love; you may give it any name you like. Love says "I am everything". Wisdom says "I am nothing". Between the two, my life flows. Since at any point of time and space I can be both the subject and the object of experience, I express it by saying that I am both, and neither, and beyond both."

  • Ode To Sibyllae...

For Sibyllae, a dear soul-friend of many years. She is an artistic genius and living high priestess of perfume arts, herbalism, prose, spirit and all things beautiful and magical. Visit her site at Sibyllae! She is a living muse and a kindred spirit whose beautiful soul I greatly admire.

About This Blog

Self-Portrait As MyselfSpirituality, art, poetry, literature, contemplation, reverie, kindness nd gnosis are the center of my life. I play the role of poet, misfit, empath, chameleon and dreamer…not necessarily in that order. This website is a place for me to play, write and share the random things that inspire me.

I am an artist focusing exclusively on the self portrait as a means of exploring identity, archetype, myth and gender. Undergoing physical and emotional transformations, I alter my physical image into various characters and archetypes and freeze them in the still photograph. My portfolio can be seen on my photography website at KalliopeAmorphous.com.

My poetry and artwork have been seen in various online and print publications, books and anthologies. I’ve briefly dabbled in spoken word and performance poetry. In New York City, some places I have performed and exhibited my art include the Bowery Poetry Club, The Telephone Bar, Meow Mix, Henrietta Hudson, Starlight Lounge, Girlsalon, The Nuyorican Poets Cafe and Rug-B restaurant. I have warbled out many a 2AM showtune at Marie’s Crisis, but I don’t think that counts. I have also participated in the Provincetown Fringe Festival and various other performance and alternative art venues .

When I’m not taking photographs or writing, I make altered art jewelry from vintage ephemera and other found objects. The focus of my jewelry recently has been on altered art pendants made from handpicked sea glass. My sea glass creations can be seen at The Sea Glasserie.

I also run Frosted Fakes, a faux bakery. I make realistic looking confections for props, staging, home decor and events. If you are ever in need of a fake cupcake or a faux cappuccino, please visit my shop! :)

I am currently cloistered in New England and pursuing opportunities for my art via forums to showcase my work, through publishing and exhibiting..
